Therefore, program offerings are being revised and may change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, we offer a variety of 100-300 level French courses. From learning the basics of the French language, to special topics in Francophone Literature and Culture, we have something to suit French learners of all levels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">View the <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/4151\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/4151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">course descriptions<\/a> for\u00a0French\u00a0courses\u00a0taught in the GSWL department.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have studied French before and wish to enroll at a level suitable for you, you can take the free&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/webcape.truenorthtest.com\/registration\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/webcape.truenorthtest.com\/registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">French placement exam<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have not studied French before, enroll in Elementary French 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Study French<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More than 200 million people speak French on over 5 continents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French is useful for many different industries in our increasingly globalized economy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French is the international language for cooking, visual arts, theatre, dance, and architecture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is also the language of many influential authors, philosophers, film directors and musicians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, and UNESCO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French is the third most used language on the internet, ahead of Spanish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">French Learning Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also offer weekly extra-curricular French activities on campus to advance your learning outside the classroom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the&nbsp;Winona State French Club, we provide activities such as French film screenings, conversation groups and field trips.
