Experiential Learning Opportunities

Hands-on, experiential learning is around every corner at Winona State. Whether it’s internships, research, study away, or any number of other opportunities like working with cancer survivors in the Winona Survivors Unite in Exercise Program, our faculty members are professionals and experts in their fields who help students get the experience they need – in and out of the classroom.

The result? You’ll start building your resume while you’re still in school.

Undergraduate Research

With small class sizes, WSU students have more opportunities to do research side-by-side with faculty members. It could be research on psychological side-effects of pharmaceuticals in the psychology department’s neurological laboratory or what creates craters in space through a NASA grant awarded to geoscience faculty – whatever your passion, you will have the ability to use equipment and learn techniques usually limited to graduate students. Competitive edge? We think so.

Check out different research projects in each department by exploring our program pages. WSU also holds an annual Ramaley Research Celebration each spring where students present on a broad range of undergraduate research projects.

Study Away

Take what you learn in the classroom out into the world.

Our semester study abroad options immerse you in a foreign country's culture while you earn credits (and have the time of your life). Our faculty-led programs allow you to explore with WSU faculty and peers in a shorter time frame.
