Let's Celebrate the Class of 2021

Commencement is a time to celebrate the successes of our students, and WSU is committed to recognizing all the accomplishments of our graduates.

However, our top priority is the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and the surrounding communities. With current circumstances, a virtual celebration is planned for Spring 2021 Commencement.

WSU is closely monitoring the situation with evolving health and safety guidelines.

All Spring 2021 graduates will receive commencement information via email throughout the semester.

Please send any questions or concerns to graduation@winona.edu.

Save the Date: Friday, May 7

Name Reading Ceremonies

8:30am | Nursing & Health Sciences and Science & Engineering

11:30am | Business, Education & Liberal Arts

Another way that the Class of 2021 will be celebrated is through Name Reading Ceremonies which include:

  • walking across the stage
  • hearing names read
  • switching tassels
  • photo opportunities

For the health and safety of our students, staff, and the community, all participating students had to register by April 9, 2021.

Due to COVID restrictions, each graduate may invite two guests to watch a livestream from inside the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium. These guests will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.

This livestream will be available for family, friends and the community.

Bell-Ringing Tradition

After the Name Reading Ceremonies

Following each Name Reading Ceremony, graduates will become the first participants of the WSU Bell-Ringing Tradition.

Each student will ring a bell to be heard from afar, announcing their achievement as a WSU graduate.

All events will follow strict health and safety protocols which will include adhering to CDC and MDH guidelines such as social distancing, wearing masks, and hand sanitizing.

Virtual Celebration

6pm | Online Premiere

While we are not able to gather in person for our official commencement ceremony on campus as is tradition, we can and we will come together to celebrate the Class of 2021 with hearts full of Warrior Pride

We’re inviting our graduates, campus community, friends and family to come together for a virtual graduation celebration.

Invite your family and friends to tune in as we:

  • hear from President Scott Olson and our student speakers

  • premiere a commemorative video made for the Winona State Class of 2021
