4. Improving the experience in the Winona and Rochester communities
In building a diverse campus community and an inclusive environment for all, it will be important that experiences in the Winona and Rochester communities are positive. It will be necessary to educate members of the WSU communities and the members of the Winona and Rochester communities. Education can occur through WSU partnering with local non-profits, agencies and government offices, to build awareness about issues and the importance of inclusivity for all.
Specific recommendations for improving experiences in Winona and Rochester around diversity included:
- Partner with local non-profits to provide educational opportunities for the community.
- Train Orientation course leaders to educate incoming students about community-related diversity issues.
- Develop educational opportunities for faculty and staff about community-related diversity issues.
