Changes to Department Operations

If a department is not listed here, it assumed to be operating under normal hours and providing services as usual.

Please note that WSU has begun locking all exterior doors of buildings on the Winona Campus, except Kryzsko, on a 24/7 basis.

Staff and students will continue to have access to academic buildings, as they always have, by using their WSU ID to enter buildings at doors equipped with ID card readers.

Classes will resume Monday, March 30. Face-to-face classes will use alternative modes of delivery such as online formats. Specifics will be coming from individual instructors.

Internships, clinicals, practicums and student teaching will continue so long as the work site is open.


College of Business

The College of Business staff are working remotely from 8am-4pm.

The College of Education staff are working remotely from 8am-4pm.

College of Liberal Arts

The office of the College of Liberal Arts is staffed and remains open from 7:30am-4pm. However, many staff are working remotely.

The office for the College of Science & Engineering will be staffed virtually.

Registration and Other Events

If you signed up for an Early Registration event, you will still be able to connect with an advisor and register for classes. Students should check their email for details and next steps.

The WSU Adult & Continuing team is primarily working remotely and keeping normal business hours.

We are here to help adult learners and local businesses with any of their training needs – even at a distance.

All regular season athletic activities have been suspended, and the Athletics Department staff are working remotely.

The Campus Card Office staff are working remotely with occasional access to the office equipment.

At this time, we are only making replacement cards for faculty and staff who need to come to campus.

The Facilities Office will remain open from 7am-3:30pm. Day-to-day work assignments will be adjusted as needed to respond to changing conditions.


Building Access

A WSU ID card will be required to access all buildings and facilities. Contact WSU Security at 507.457.5555 for assistance accessing buildings.


Campus Events

All events through May 1 are occurring online, via alternate means or have been cancelled.


Cleaning Practices

The WSU Facilities team is performing cleaning per CDC guidelines, with added attention to frequently touched surfaces such as:

  • Doorknobs/handles
  • Elevator buttons
  • Faucets
  • Countertops
  • Security card readers

More frequent or additional cleaning may require shut down of some spaces on campus in order to reallocate maintenance staff and resources.

Employees and students are encouraged to wipe down keyboards, desk phones and other small items before each use.

Additional hand sanitizer stations are being installed in high-traffic areas. All hand sanitizer stations are being checked and refilled more frequently.


Mail Deliveries

There will not be mail deliveries to departments or buildings. Mail can be picked up at the Facilities Office during business hours.

Motor Pool Reservations

Motor Pool vehicle reservations have been suspended until further notice.

Student Union & Activities staff are working remotely from 8am – 4:30pm Monday-Friday. If you have questions, please email studentunion@winona.edu or call 507.547.5312.


Reduced Building Hours

Kryzsko Commons Student Union is open from 10am – 6pm every day of the week.

Only Door 9 by Minné Lot will be open to provide access to Baldwin Lounge for the following services:

  • WiFi
  • Printer
  • Scanner
  • Computers

No other services will be open or available. Hours may be reduced further as traffic patterns are monitored.


Bookstore

The WSU Bookstore is closed.

You can still shop online for textbooks and other general merchandise. Orders will be processed as quickly as possible.

All dining halls and retail dining areas are closed.

The office for Dining Services is also closed and you can contact the staff through the Dining Services website.

Health Services

Starting March 18, the Health Services will provide services via Telehealth Appointments on Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm.

On-site medical appointments are available as needed.

Please call ahead at 507.457.5160 to schedule a telehealth appointment or an on-site appointment.

The Health Services team will be taking steps to reduce contact and promote social distancing. These steps include:

  • Having team members work on-site in shifts
  • Using telemedicine as appropriate
  • Using telecommunting as appropriate

Counseling Services

Although you may feel distant from our WSU community, you are not alone and we are still here to support you and your mental health during this challenging time.

The Counseling Services team is working remotely Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm.

Beginning April 6, we'll be offering counseling appointments via Zoom and Microsoft teams. You'll be sent instructions and a meeting link prior to your scheduled appointment

    The IWC Strength & Fitness Center is closed until further notice. The following activities have been suspended for the rest of the semester:

    • Fitness Classes
    • Intramurals
    • Rec Sports
    • Sports Club Council practice & play
    • Aquatics

    The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program will be cancelled until April 6.

    The Winona Survivors Unite in Exercise (Cancer Survivors Program) will also suspend meeting until April 7.

    Warrior Cupboard - Food Shelf for Students

    The Warrior Cupboard in IWC 130 is still open for students in need.

    Students can request access to the Warrior Cupboard by emailing wellness@winona.edu and include their StarID in the email.

    IWC staff can also help students fill out MN SNAP applications and connect them to other services in the community to help with food and housing insecurity.

    The Krueger Library building is closed and all library services are provided entirely online.

    If you are looking for a place to study, print, or need computer access, Kryzsko Commons will be available for the campus community.

    Patrons are encouraged to check our website and Facebook for updates.

    We created a guide that outlines our services moving forward and will serve as a base for library updates as this situation changes.

    The OERC will be closed following the guidelines in place by the CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health.

    The OERC is a high-touch environment and in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, we will be closed until students are allowed to return to campus.

    WSU Security will be operating business as usual. However, response times may be delayed.


    WSU Shuttle & Vans

    The WSU Shuttle and vans are no longer running until further notice.


    Building Access

    Except for Kryzsko Commons, the exterior doors of all buildings on the Winona Campus will be locked.

    Staff and students will continue to have access to academic buildings, as they always have, by using their WSU ID to enter buildings at various doors that are equipped with ID card readers.

    Please do not prop any doors open. If you see an exterior door that is not closing properly, please call Security at 507.457.5555 and identify the problem door so facilities can be notified.

    Tutoring Services

    All tutoring sessions, including those offered by the WSU Writing Center, will be online.

    Students can now sign up for an appointment with a WSU Tutor just 15 minutes in advance. These appointments with WSU tutors will not count against their Tutor.com online tutoring allotment.

    Tutoring Services appointments started on March 23 and Writing Center Appointments will start March 30.

    To access the WSU tutors, use TutorTrac to search for a tutor for your course. Click on an appointment time, and read your confirmation email with important information on how to connect online with your tutor.

    To access your 15 hours of professional 24/7 online tutors, log into your D2L homepage and scroll down to see the tutor.com link on the right hand side. Then click on Connect with a Tutor Now.


    TRIO Student Success Services

    Starting March 18, the Children's Center is closed until further notice.

    Families can arrange to pick up their child's belongings between 8:30-10:30am on Monday-Wednesday-Friday by emailing krsullivan@winona.edu or childrenscenter@winona.edu.

    No Children's Center charges are being assessed at this time. However, families can continue to make a payment on their outstanding account balances.

    You can also call 507.457.2300 and 507.457.5386 between 8am – 4:30pm with any questions.

    We can provide childcare resources in the community and private student contact information for personal hire upon request.

    WSU-Rochester at RCTC

    The WSU-Rochester campus is co-located with Rochester Community and Technical College. See updates on RCTC's response to COVID-19 for info on campus facilities and services.

    The RCTC main campus will be open with limited access from 8am-4:30pm from Monday - Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturday.

    The only entrance point will be through the Atrium. This entrance will be monitored by RCTC personnel.

    Visitors will be asked to show a campus ID or provide an acceptable rationale for visiting before being allowed entry.

    All other entrances will be locked. Magnetic card access will be disabled.

    RCTC will continue to adjust hours and building access as necessary.


    WSU-Rochester on Broadway

    The WSU-Rochester Broadway Suite is closed. The Riverside Building doors will remain open from 7am–7pm.


    Student & Campus Services Office

    The WSU-Rochester Student & Campus Services office is currently closed, however staff are available if students need help.
