Our Partners

Winona State University and its community partners understand the importance of working together to benefit all stakeholders in the process. WSU students gain a better understanding and appreciation for the post-college world and the community partners receive valuable services, time, and commitment from the WSU students. The entire community of Winona and the surrounding are benefit from the work done and feeling of belonging that grows from within.

This page recaps the most current award-winning community partners, lists the past recognized community partners, and lists all partners WSU holds near and dear.

2014 Community Partners of the Year

Women’s Resource Center of Winona - Minnesota Campus Compact Presidents’ Community Partner Award for WSU

The Women’s Resource Center of Winona (WRC) and WSU have a long history as community/university partners working to address gender-based violence (GBV) in our community. The mission of the WRC, directed by Dianna Miller, is to create a safer community by eliminating sexual and domestic violence. We are currently working to enhance programming to reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual harassment, and stalking. Together, WSU and WRC are working to create an integrated approach to addressing GBV, emphasizing community and campus collaborations focused on multisectoral responses to GBV including violence prevention education and crisis advocacy.

Winona Volunteer Services - Honorable Mention

With a caring network of dedicated volunteers and partners, WVS, directed by Sandra Burke, secures and distributes food, clothing, information, referrals, and emergency assistance in a respectful and dignified manner to people in need. The partnership with Winona State University is a vital piece of this mission. The goals of this partnership include meeting the needs of both groups. On the WVS side, they have a need for volunteers, content experts, and voices from students and higher education. On the WSU side, we need sites for students to volunteer and intern, resources for our students and community, and partnership for research. This partnership includes several components. Below, I have outlined the partnerships that I have directly been involved with. However, WVS and WSU have many other relationships not outlined below.
