Dr. Ann-Marie Dunbar

A native Minnesotan, Ann-Marie Dunbar received a BA in English and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College. After graduating, she spent a year near Hiroshima, Japan, studying Japanese language and literature on a Fulbright Fellowship. She earned an MA and PhD in English at Indiana University, Bloomington, with a specialization in Victorian literature and culture and a doctoral minor in East Asian Studies. She joined the English department at WSU in 2009. Her research and teaching interests include nineteenth-century British and American literature, the history of the novel, narrative and genre theory, Asian American literature and modern Japanese literature and culture. Her articles have appeared in such publications as Victorians Institutes Journal and American Drama.
After her sojourn in southern Indiana, Ann-Marie is happy to be back in Minnesota, where she particularly enjoys such cultural institutions as the State Fair, the great theater and music scenes, and the Twins. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, kung fu movies and low-brow Victorian novels.
