Events & Projects

The Winona State Film Studies department hosts a wide variety of events every year, including an annual film series supporting the University Theme and a student-run blogsite, POVwinona.

Featured Project | 2020: One Week on Campus

Co-Directors Hailey Torborg and Shelbie Carson worked collaboratively with dozens of peers to create 2020: One Week on Campus.

With proper social distancing and safety protocols this film captures the life of college students during the pandemic, protests, and politics of fall semester 2020.

University Theme Film Series

The Film Studies program curates and sponsors each year’s University Theme Film Series.

Check out POVwinona or our WSU Film Studies Facebook page for events and details.

The Film Studies program's Wordpress blog POVwinona features criticism, reviews, reportage, and creative work written and produced by WSU Film Studies students.

Each issue takes on a special topic or project, and occasional updates offer information about special events such as our travel study to Mountainfilm Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado.

Telluride Travel Study

WSU Film Studies offers a one-week travel study to Telluride, Colorado to attend Mountainfilm Festival.

Living History Project

The Film Studies department partners with the Retiree Center on the Living History Project where students create documentary videos on members of the center.
