{"id":26,"date":"2022-08-23T11:08:30","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T16:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/live-wsu.pantheonsite.io\/financial-aid\/assistantships\/"},"modified":"2024-01-18T16:56:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T22:56:29","slug":"assistantships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/financial-aid\/paying-for-college\/assistantships\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Assistantships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-text-intro wp-block-paragraph\">A graduate assistantship offers a campus job plus tuition benefits for students pursuing master\u2019s degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a graduate assistantship, you&#8217;ll work part-time to provide teaching assistance, research support, or other University services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate assistantships have been available across many University departments, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic programs such as Biology, Counselor Education, English, and Nursing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warrior Athletics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrated Wellness Center (IWC) and Fitness Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollment Management and Student Life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Legal Affairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching &amp; Learning Technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warrior Success Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll receive a bi-weekly paycheck as well as free tuition credits. The stipend amount and tuition reimbursement varies depending on the number of hours you work each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most GAs are hired for a full academic year (August-May) although some positions also include a summer assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a graduate assistantship, you must be enrolled during each term of the assistantship for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full-time GA: at least 6 graduate credits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Part-time GA: at least 3 graduate credits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can search for graduate assistantships in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/winona.joinhandshake.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\">Handshake<\/a>.
