WSU Jazz Recordings

Since 2006, WSU Friends of Jazz has helped fund multi-track recordings of live concerts of the WSU Jazz Ensemble. These concerts are then mixed down to create archival recordings of the group. We use them for teaching and learning, offering students the opportunity to experience live recording and hear their efforts produced in a studio setting. We are grateful to Brett Huus at Sound Strations Studios in La Crosse, WI for his expertise in recording, mixing and mastering.

  • Jazz Ensemble I/Jazz Combo I - Hopeful Spirit Rising: The groups recorded a number of their favorite selections from the 2011-2012 academic year.
  • Jazz Ensemble - Home: This the first studio recording by the WSU Jazz Ensemble. It features tunes performed during the 2007-2008 academic year. The title comes from an original tune written by ensemble member, Jake Runestad.
  • Jazz Faculty Combo - Explorations: This is the Faculty Jazz Combo's first CD - recorded in 2005. Several of the tracks on Explorations are original compositions by the group's members.
