Grad Finale Event
Congratulations, graduates! The Warrior Hub, Career Services, Alumni Relations and the WSU Bookstore are proud to co-host Grad Finale for all graduating students. Grad Finale is an event held on both the Winona and Rochester campus for graduating students to purchase graduation regalia (cap, gown and tassel), merchandise, pick up their honor cords, and have graduation announcements printed while they wait. The best part is, you will receive 20% off clothing and gifts, diploma frames, the 3-piece Bachelor set, and the 4-piece Master's set!
When and Where
The Fall Grad Finale is held in November (Winona Campus), and the Spring Grad Finale is in November (Rochester and Winona).

Can't make it to the event? Take advantage of the discounts online by ordering your items on November 16 at the WSU Bookstore. (The WSU Bookstore will manually adjust your online order to reflect the appropriate sale prices if you have purchased the qualifying materials. Graduation materials may not be charged to your student account.)

Jostens will have a ring display available at Grad Finale in Winona. They will have special sale prices on ring packages for the events.
Cap and Gown
All WSU graduates attending the commencement ceremony must wear the proper regalia. All regalia are black or purple and the design is different depending on the level of degree you are earning. When purchasing your regalia through the WSU Bookstore, please indicate whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student.
Undergraduate: black cap and black gown.
Graduate - Master's*: black cap, black gown, and hood (hood color specific to discipline).
Graduate - Doctorate*: black cap, black or purple gown trimmed with black velvet, and hood (hood color specific to discipline).
*To ensure appropriate regalia is available, commencement participation must be declared at least 12 weeks prior to the ceremony.
Undergraduate students will purchase:
- Associate in Arts - Blue
- Bachelor of Arts - White
- Bachelor of Science - Gold
- Bachelor of Music - Pink
- Bachelor of Social Work - Citron
Students earning dual degrees will purchase the tassel of the degree declared as primary. If you are not sure what degree you are earning, please reference our degree clarification sheet.
Graduate students will purchase:
Black (Doctor of Nursing Practice, Education Specialist, Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Professional Science Masters)
Undergraduate students earning academic honors are calculated with the GPA at the end of the Spring/Summer semester for Fall graduates, and from Fall for Spring and Summer graduates. Please visit the Catalog to review the honors policy. Honor Cords are worn pinned to the gown over the left shoulder.
Cum Laude (purple cords): Overall GPA between 3.600 and 3.749
Magna Cum Laude (silver cords): Overall GPA between 3.750 and 3.899
Summa Cum Laude (gold cords): Overall GPA between 3.900 and 4.000
Students who are unable to attend Winona's Grad Finale can pick up their honor cords at the Warrior Hub (with a photo ID). If you are unable to stop by the Warrior Hub, please let us know by emailing Graduation@winona.edu with your name, Warrior ID and major you are graduating with, and we will make sure your cords are at Graduation Rehearsal.
Graduate students do not graduate with honors, but they may wear honor cords if they are a member of an Honor Society organization. These cords are to be worn pinned to the gown over the left shoulder.
Alumni Graduate Celebration Event
All graduates are invited to the Alumni Relations' Graduate Celebration held in the lower level of Bub's the Wednesday before commencement. It is an open house with appetizers and beverages. Everyone who pre-registers receives an alumni t-shirt. Registration information is available after Grad Finale.
