Preparing to graduate is an exciting but sometimes stressful process. Below is important policy information students should review in their final semester at WSU.

Only those with an approved graduation application are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony. Students are only eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony the term in which they complete their degree requirements.
Undergraduate Students: Students can communicate their decision to participate in the commencement ceremony through their Undergraduate Graduation Application. If plans change, commencement participation can be updated by editing the graduation application.
Graduate Students: Students will receive communication from the School of Graduate Studies office regarding commencement participation.
Warrior Graduate Celebration
Attend Warrior Graduate Celebration to purchase your cap, gown and tassel at a 20% discount.
Warrior Graduate Celebration is hosted by the Warrior Hub, Career Services, and the Bookstore each Fall and Spring semester. All graduating students are encouraged to attend Grad Finale.
Presence at rehearsal is important for commencement to run smoothly. If for some reason a student is not able to attend rehearsal, they should arrange for a participating friend to relay specific instructions.
Spring Commencement participants will line up outside of Somsen Hall. In the case of inclement weather, participants will line up on the second floor of Somsen Hall.
Fall Commencement participants will line up on the second floor of Somsen Hall.
Undergraduate - Students will be arranged by college. Please report to your appropriate college table the day of graduation to check in and pick up your name card.
Graduate - Students will sit directly behind the faculty and are seated by college according to degree type. Please report to the graduate table the day of graduation to check in and pick up your name card.
If a sign language interpreter is needed, the Warrior Hub should be notified at least five weeks prior to the commencement ceremony by emailing Graduation@winona.edu.
Graduates that will be using a wheelchair or crutches or have other personal needs should let the Warrior Hub know at least two weeks prior to the commencement ceremony by emailing Graduation@winona.edu.

Academic protocol states that you should not pin jewelry or flowers to your gown and you should not decorate your mortarboard.
Graduates will follow the stage party and faculty once the ceremony is over. Guests are asked to wait until graduates have left the gym. Please make a plan to meet at a location away from McCown Gym.
Diplomas for students completing all coursework will be mailed to their diploma address indicated on their graduation application. Diplomas can take up to 16 weeks after graduation to reach their destination. Changes to the diploma address can be made in the graduation application for up to one week after the commencement ceremony. After that time, changes can be emailed to Graduation@winona.edu.
