American Heart Association CPR Certification Courses
Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to attend a variety of CPR certification courses through WSU Health & Wellness Services.
Basic Life Support (BLS) (For healthcare professionals)
Learn how to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED.
In the Instructor-led course, you will participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Participants work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing.
At this time, BLS courses are open to current WSU students only. This course meets the WSU Nursing Program entrance requirements.
Heartsaver CPR & AED
If you have little or no medical training yet you need to be prepared for an emergency in any setting, Heartsaver courses are designed for you.
Participants receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years. This satisfies job, regulatory (for example, OSHA) and other requirements.
This course is open to all WSU students. Staff and faculty registrations accepted on a space-available basis.
The Heartsaver course does not meet WSU Nursing Program Admission Requirements. You must complete the BLS class instead.
Location: IWC 145-- unless otherwise noted on the online registration form.
Cost: Covers the cost of the training manual and certification card. Cash only.

WSU Health & Wellness Services reserves the right to cancel any course registration if payment has not been made in person and course manual not picked up at least 4 business days in advance.
Participants whose registrations are canceled will be notified by email of the cancellation.

How do I pay for a course and pick up a course manual?
To pay for the course, please bring cash (only) to the front desk of Health & Wellness Services (IWC 222). A receipt will be given for proof of payment.

Course manuals are signed out to participants prior to the course date. Manuals can be signed out at the front desk of Health & Wellness Services (IWC 222). You must pick up your manual at least 4 business days in advance of the course date. Please review your course manual prior to the course date.
How long are the courses?
BLS classes are 4.5 hours in length.
Heartsaver CPR & AED classes are 4.5 hours in length.
What to expect at the course?
Please arrive 5 minutes early to check in and wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be will be practice skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. Plan to spend the entire time actively participating in the course. Leaving early may result in not successfully passing the course.
