The Lyceum Series

The Lyceum Series is the premier speaker series at WSU. It was initiated in 1989 to present events that provide unique cultural enrichment and educational opportunities for the Winona and Rochester campus communities. Internationally renowned speakers present topics in the sciences, the arts, politics, literature, popular culture and more. Funding for the Lyceum Series is provided by the WSU Foundation and student life fees.

2017-18 Speaker Series

 "The Body Cartography" Aug. 31 at 7pm

“The Body Cartography”

The performers in this project are “deeply invested in the power of live performance to facilitate a re-enchantment of embodiment, relationship, and presence.” Since 1997 they have been collaborating with dancers, composers, visual artists, scientists, and filmmakers to create performances, installations, films, workshops, talks, and curatorial projects. As certified teachers of Body-Mind Centering® somatic practice informs the ground of their dance-making and teaching practice.

Minnesota Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve

Cheryl Reeve will share her insights on women’s leadership in athletics, and coaching teams through adversity. Reeve completed her seventh season as Lynx head coach in 2016, leading the Lynx to a 28-6 record and their sixth consecutive postseason appearance. Since taking over as Lynx head coach, Reeve owns a career 168-70 record, the most coaching wins in franchise history. The Lynx had not won a playoff series in the 10 seasons of existence prior to Coach Reeve’s hiring in 2010. Since, the team has won 13 playoff series in 7 seasons including 3 championships and several gold medals.
