Climbing Center

The Climbing Center at Winona State University is one of the largest university climbing walls in the Midwest. The WSU Climbing Center features:

  • Nearly 6000 square feet of climbing surface
  • 32 top ropes
  • Two bouldering walls up to 14ft tall
  • Belay ledge
  • Traditional climbing anchor practice wall

Open to Everyone

WSU students and Winona community members can access the Center during open hours:

Summer 2022 Hours (May 31 - August 4) 

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday : 5-9pm
*The Climbing Center is closed May 6 - May 30 for maintenance, repairs & training
* Due to staffing shortages, periodic closures may occur. Please refer to our Instagram or Facebook page for most up-to-date Climbing Center Hours

Before participating in any climbing activities, you must fill out and print a Climbing Wall Participant Agreement.

All participants under 14 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian present to use the climbing facility

Please bring a printed copy of this form to the Climbing Wall Center.

Group Policy

In an effort to ensure we are maintaining proper ratios with staff, and ultimately increase the risk management ability of the staff Any size group of 8 or more should email the WSU OERC at to schedule the time and session they wish to attend. 

Reserve Your Climbing Session

Although not required, you may reserve a climbing session. The best way to make a reservation is though the Rock Gym Pro mobile app.
