Course Registration Information

Check for upcoming registration dates on the current academic calendar. To view your specific registration window information, log in to Student eServices and review the "Registration Window" link under the heading "Courses and Registration" on the left-hand navigation.

 

Reminders and Helpful Hints

  • Check your registration window online at the Minnesota State Student eServices page.
  • If required, contact your advisor for your access code. You do not have to wait until your window opens to enter your access code or set up your “Wish List.”
  • Check your holds. Students can check their holds on the Student eServices Dashboard.
  • If you received an email regarding necessary immunizations from Health Services (507.457.5160), please contact them as soon as possible. Registration will be blocked for students not meeting State of Minnesota immunization requirements.
  • Save time by setting up your registration "Wish List" ahead of time. Make sure to have alternatives in case courses are full.
  • The credit limit for undergraduate registration is 19 credits and for graduate registration is 12. If you are seeking to take more than this, you will need to fill out the Credit Overload Request form online for approval.
  • Check to make sure that you have the correct term selected when searching for course.
  • Once you have registered, check your DARS report to ensure your courses meet the requirements you intended. If you have questions, please contact the Warrior Hub at 507.457.2800.

 

Advising/Access Code

Online registration for Fall and Spring terms requires your Access Code and your StarID password. All undergraduate, degree-seeking students are required to have an advising session with their academic advisor prior to registering.

Registration Access Codes will be given to students when they meet with their advisors. Your advisor will be listed on your DARS (Degree Auditing Reporting System) report.

 

You may need to bring two items with you to your advising session:

A copy of your DARS:

  • On your homepage click on 'Resources' at the top of the page and select ‘Find a Course.’
  • Click on ‘Log In.'
  • Enter your StarID and associated password.
  • Click on the 'Academic Record' tab.
  • Click on 'Degree Audit Portal' on left menu.
  • Click on the 'Click here to access Degree Audit Self-Service' link at the top.
  • Enter your StarID and associated password.
  • Click 'Run Declared Programs' button.
  • Your DARS report can be printed.

A copy of your unofficial transcript:

  • On your homepage click on 'Resources' at the top of the page and select ‘Find a Course.’
  • Click on ‘Log In.'
  • Enter your StarID and associated password.
  • Click on the 'Academic Records' tab.
  • Click on 'Unofficial Transcripts' on left menu.
  • Click on 'Get Academic Record' button.
  • Your Unofficial Transcript can be printed.

 

Instructor-Initiated Drops

An instructor may cancel the registration of any student who does not attend the first scheduled meeting of a class.

Important note: The instructor is not required to drop the student.

 

Pre-Requisites

Students are responsible for knowing whether a course has a pre-requisite or course requirement. Check course descriptions in the online catalog before you register. Faculty and departments can and will drop students who do not meet pre-requisites and course requirements.

If you are blocked from registering by a pre-requisite deficiency you think it is in error (e.g., the pre-requisite course is listed as a transfer course on your DARS report), please contact the Warrior Hub.

Situations that will not meet pre-requisite requirements:

Courses with In-Progress (IP) grades
Courses with Incomplete (I) grades
Courses with F or NC grades
Courses taken for Audit (AU)
Students currently taking a pre-requisite course at another institution
Transfer students whose transcript work was not recorded in the student data system
