Rochester Education Department

The Rochester Education Department offers the Elementary Education Online program, a flexible online option designed for working professionals with an associate degree or higher seeking licensure in Elementary Education (K-6).

Whether you are a transfer student, mid-career professional, or just want a career change, this program has a lot to offer.

STEM Education Emphasis

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education provides all students with the opportunity to learn high-tech skills in an integrated way.

In 2006, the United States National Academies made the following recommendations:

  • Increase America’s talent pool by improving K–12 science and mathematics education
  • Strengthen the skills of teachers through additional training in science, mathematics, and technology
  • Enlarge the pipeline of students prepared to enter college and graduate with STEM degrees

To meet these demands, the Rochester Education department works collaboratively with public and private stakeholders to improve the STEM knowledge of teacher candidates through STEM Camp and partnerships with surrounding school districts.
