Practicum

Students work with the Field faculty to secure an approved Practicum placement, and then enter SOCW 475 Practicum in the final semester of their Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program.

Practicum is comprised of 480 clock hours, with students in Practicum typically four days a week and one day reserved for Integrative Seminar.

Each Practicum student works closely with a Faculty Field Liaison and the agency Field Instructor to craft learning goals that allow them to demonstrate the full range of social work competencies.

Students are enrolled in a professional seminar concurrently with the placement to assist with integrating the full learning experience.

As a part of Practicum, students complete a capstone project that gives students the opportunity to integrate research into their beginning social work practice.
