Special Education Graduate Admissions


Follow these steps to apply for admission to WSU's Special Education graduate programs.

Meet Admissions Requirements


Graduate-level programs require a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 credits of study.

The graduate certificate (ABS) program also requires employment within a school district with a licensed cooperating teacher.

Apply to WSU's School of Graduate Studies


Complete the online application for WSU's Graduate Studies. Use your existing StarID or create a new StarID.

In step 6 of the online application, select a program:

  • Academic & Behavioral Strategist GC (select this if you're interested in the Graduate Certificate/ALSPED program)
  • Special Education (select this if you're interested in the Master of Science)

Apply to the Special Education Program


Once you've been accepted to Graduate Studies, complete the online application for the Special Education graduate programs. To do this, you'll need:

  • Statement of Purpose: One page narrative of why you want to become a Special Education teacher.
  • Resume: Include your professional experiences and volunteer/community service.
  • Include the contact information for your school administrator (only required for Graduate Certificate/ALSPED Program)

Admissions


Admission to Graduate Studies does not guarantee admission to a degree or certificate program in Special Education.

Applications for a degree or certificate program will be reviewed by the College of Education Admissions department.

You'll be notified, in writing, if you're admitted or denied admission to the Special Education graduate program.
