{"id":1285,"date":"2025-09-16T19:02:28","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T00:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=1285"},"modified":"2025-09-16T19:02:29","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T00:02:29","slug":"register-for-classes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/records-registration\/register-for-classes\/","title":{"rendered":"Register for Classes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">At WSU, the class registration process is a staggered over several days so that different groups of students register at specific times, known as registration windows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The registration window is usually determined by the number of credits a student has completed. So, the more credits you have, the earlier in the week you get to register.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the upcoming registration dates for Fall Semester, Spring Semester and Summer Sessions on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/current-students\/#calendars\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/current-students\/#calendars\">academic calendar<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find your registration window in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/registration\/search\/advanced.html?campusid=074\">Student eServices<\/a> under the heading &#8220;Courses and Registration&#8221; section.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register for classes, you have to be enrolled at WSU or register as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/records-registration\/enroll\/#guest\">guest student<\/a>. If you took a semester off from WSU, you will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/records-registration\/enroll\/#return\">re-enroll<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Register<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the registration processes are done online through the \u201cCourses and Registration\u201d section of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/registration\/search\/advanced.html?campusid=074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student eServices<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The essential steps for registering are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review your Degree Audit and choose courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss your potential class schedule with your advisor and get your access code&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check if you have any registration holds and resolve the issues&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determine your registration window<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register for courses&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about the process for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/advising-services\/plan-for-class-registration\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4172\">meeting with advisors and registering for classes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration Holds &amp; Other Issues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the time, students are able to register for classes without any issues. You can do this online through the \u201cCourses and Registration\u201d section of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/registration\/search\/advanced.html?campusid=074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student eServices<\/a>&nbsp;as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/current-students\/#calendars\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/current-students\/#calendars\">academic calendar<\/a> to make sure that you are aware of the drop and withdrawal deadlines each semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you drop a class after these deadlines, you may not get a tuition refund and the course withdrawal could negatively impact your GPA or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/advising-services\/understand-your-academic-status\/calculate-your-completion-rate\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4182\">completion rate<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dropping a course can also impact your financial aid award\u2014both before aid is disbursed and after you\u2019ve received your aid award. It\u2019s best to reach out to Financial Aid to discuss your situation before making any changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/advising-services\/drop-withdraw-change-grade-method\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4176\">dropping or withdrawing from a class<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructor Initiated Drops<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that if you do not attend the first scheduled meeting of a class, the instructor&nbsp;<strong>may drop you from the class<\/strong>.
