{"id":1877,"date":"2026-03-12T09:00:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=1877"},"modified":"2026-03-12T09:00:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T14:00:26","slug":"move-in","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/next-steps\/move-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Move In to Residence Halls"},"content":{"rendered":"\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"move-in\">Whether you are planning to move in at the beginning of the academic year in August or waiting until Spring semester in January, here are some general notes about moving in:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check your email regularly, so you don\u2019t miss specific move-in information from your residence hall regarding where to pick up your key, traffic and parking information, and more&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Housing-Packing-List.pdf\">recommended packing list<\/a>&nbsp;(PDF)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear comfortable clothes and shoes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check what the weather in Winona will be on your move-in day and plan accordingly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow WSU Housing &amp; Residence Life on social media for additional information and tips!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block accordion\">\n        <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Fall_Semester\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Fall_Semester\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Fall Semester        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>For Fall 2026, move-in appointments will be on Aug. 20 from 8:30am-4pm for all residence halls, including the East Lake Apartments. You will be able to schedule your check-in appointment in your Housing Portal starting June 1.<\/p>\n<p>Check-in appointments are 15 minutes. This is a designated time for you to show up at your hall front desk and pick up your key and Warrior ID card, if you don&#8217;t already have either. Once you have your key, you are free to move in and get settled in your new space.<\/p>\n<p>There will be designated &#8220;Unloading Zones&#8221; for parking in front of the halls for students to unload their things. Once you unload your vehicle, you&#8217;ll need to park in a lot or on a street away from the residence halls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check your email throughout the summer for important information on living on campus and moving in.<\/li>\n<li>You will receive an email from your Area Coordinator about 5 days before your scheduled appointment with specific information related to parking, key pickup, etc.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/new-student-registration-orientation\/#welcome-week\">New Student Orientation<\/a>, activities and floor meetings will begin on Aug. 20 at 4pm, so make sure you are moved in and settled by that time.<\/li>\n<li>Fall semester meal plans begin Aug. 20.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Spring_Semester\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Spring_Semester\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Spring Semester        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>For Spring 2027, you can check into your room on any of the following days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jan. 8, 11am-6pm<\/li>\n<li>Jan. 9, 11am-6pm<\/li>\n<li>Jan. 10, 11am-6pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During these hours, you can go to your hall front desk to pick up your key. Once you have your key, you can move into your room. More info will be sent via email in mid-December after you&#8217;ve been assigned a room.<\/p>\n<p>Spring semester meal plans begin Jan. 9.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"traffic\">Traffic Flow &amp; Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you approach campus on move-in day, pay attention to signs that are posted and volunteers who are helping with traffic flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not recommend you follow your GPS because many areas around the residence halls may be blocked off or re-routed to accommodate traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn more about where to drive and unload your vehicle by viewing our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Move-In-Day-Traffic-Map.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traffic map<\/a> (PDF) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLFuIHkxhXps0Zlt-bWkdA-KxLzyIp-LT5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">move-in day video guides<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"feature-grid feature-grid--light\">\n                <div class=\"feature-block feature-block--50 wsu-block\">            <div class=\"feature-block__content\">\n                <div class=\"feature-block__title\">Unloading Car Passes<\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block__description\"><p>All vehicles entering \u201cUnloading Zones\u201d will be given a car pass by a Welcome Crew volunteer. <\/p>\n<p>All passes must include the student\u2019s name, cell phone, and room number and be placed on the driver\u2019s side dashboard of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block feature-block--50 wsu-block\">            <div class=\"feature-block__content\">\n                <div class=\"feature-block__title\">Unloading Zones<\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block__description\"><p>There are 20-minute unloading zones around the residence halls. <\/p>\n<p>Once you enter an unloading zone, you need to move all items out of your vehicle(s) and place onto the grass or sidewalk. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block feature-block--50 wsu-block\">            <div class=\"feature-block__content\">\n                <div class=\"feature-block__title\">Parking after Unloading<\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block__description\"><p>After you\u2019ve unloaded your vehicle, please park away from the residence halls. <\/p>\n<p>This can be in other WSU parking lots away from the halls or street parking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block feature-block--50 wsu-block\">            <div class=\"feature-block__content\">\n                <div class=\"feature-block__title\">Moving In after Parking<\/div>\n                <div class=\"feature-block__description\"><p>Once you&#8217;ve parked your vehicle away from the residence halls, you can move your belongings up to your room and get settled into your new space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early Arrival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Move-in for Fall 2026 begins Aug. 20, by appointment between 8:30am-4pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you need to arrive to campus before Aug. 20, you will need to go through an Early Arrival Request Process through your <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/esession\/authentication.do?campusId=074&amp;postAuthUrl=http%3A%2F%2Feservices.minnstate.edu%2Fregistration%2Fsecure%2Fsearch%2Fbasic.html%3Fcampusid%3D074\">Housing Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are limited services available before the residence halls open. Meal plans begin Aug. 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">Student Groups &amp; International Students<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">Convenience Purposes<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Student Groups &amp; International Students<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>If you are part of a group or team that needs to arrive before Aug. 20, you still need to submit an early arrival request in your Housing Portal. You may be asked to upload documentation to support your request.<\/p>\n<p>The following teams and groups have designated move-in appointments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aug. 2, 9am-12pm: Football<\/li>\n<li>Aug. 9, 9am-12pm: Volleyball and Soccer<\/li>\n<li>Aug. 17: International students<\/li>\n<li>Aug. 18, 9am-12pm: Orientation Leaders<\/li>\n<li>Aug. 19, 9am-12pm: Welcome Crew volunteers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>International students traveling to Winona from overseas have 3 additional days from the beginning of the housing contract at no charge to coordinate travel arrangements. If more time is requested, international students will be charged $50 daily.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Convenience Purposes<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>You can request to move in as early as Aug. 19.
