Find out how to&nbsp;uncover your interests,&nbsp;strengths, and values, and how these can help you select a major that fits you best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can start by talking to people who know you best. They may have a great sense of&nbsp;the majors and careers that would be rewarding to you, and where you might do well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Focus specifically on you&nbsp;and not a family \u201ctradition\u201d or parent\u2019s dream. It will also show you related programs that might interest you.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Run a \u201cWhat-If\u201d DARS<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>A &#8220;What-If&#8221; DARS shows what courses you would need to take for a specific major and\/or minor and the classes you have already completed.<\/p>\n<p>To run this report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/registration\/search\/advanced.html?campusid=074\">Student eServices<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cAcademic Records\u201d and then \u201cDegree Audit Portal\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Select the link \u201cClick here to access Degree Audit Self-Service\u201d and log in with your StarID and password.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Join Academic Clubs<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>Joining an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/clubs\/student-clubs\">academic club or organization<\/a> will help you meet students with similar interests and give you more exposure to the majors and related careers that interest you most.<\/p>\n<p>You can talk to the other students about their majors, why they selected the majors they did, what they like about them, and what they want to do with their degrees in the future.<\/p>\n<p>You can also talk to the club faculty advisor for more insight about what that major involves.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attend the Major and Career Exploration Fair<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each October, Winona State hosts a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/warrior-success-center\/#major-career-fair\">Major and Career Exploration Fair<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event is a one-stop-shop for students to meet with faculty members, students, and alumni who represent the wide variety of majors and minors offered at WSU.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Try an Intro Class for the Major<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are not sure about whether a major may be a good fit, why not try out a course? Many majors offer introductory-level classes that also count toward the general education program (GEP).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since you must take gen eds anyway, why not use them to help you pick your major?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While it\u2019s not part of the GEP, the course CE 200 &#8211; Once this is complete, you will see the name of your new advisor in your DARS report in <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/registration\/search\/advanced.html?campusid=074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student eServices<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don&#8217;t Worry, Be Happy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not really a step, but it is worth saying that you may still not be 100% sure about your major at this point.
