{"id":5330,"date":"2024-10-11T13:27:49","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T18:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/next-steps\/move-in-move-out-information-2\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T15:32:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T20:32:52","slug":"move-out","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/next-steps\/move-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Move Out of Residence Halls"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"move-out\">At the end of the academic year, the residence halls and dining services close for the summer:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Residence Hall Closing Meetings: April 12-16<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Last Day for Food Service: May 7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Residence Halls Close: May 8 at 3pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend that students move out within 24 hours of their last final exam to make moving out less congested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will need to schedule a check-out appointment on your <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/esession\/authentication.do?campusId=074&amp;postAuthUrl=http%3A%2F%2Feservices.minnstate.edu%2Fregistration%2Fsecure%2Fsearch%2Fbasic.html%3Fcampusid%3D074\">Housing Portal<\/a> by April 15. During your appointment, an RA will check your room to ensure it is in the same condition as when you moved in, and you will turn in your key.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you visit home during spring semester, it\u2019s a good idea to start bringing things back to make fully moving out easier.\u00a0If you need to stay past May 8, you will need to request a late check-out or apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/apply\/summer-housing\/\">summer housing<\/a>\u00a0through your\u00a0Housing Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips for Checking Out<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure all your items are out of your room prior to your check-out time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be sure your room is clean. Basic cleaning supplies are available at your hall front desk, but vacuum cleaners are not available for check out. &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A limited number of moving bins are available in each hall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                            <div class=\"h3\">Late Stays<\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The housing contract for the 2025-2026 school year ends May 8 at 3pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you need to stay an extra day or two, you will need to go through a Late Stay Request Process. This request form is on your <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/esession\/authentication.do?campusId=074&amp;postAuthUrl=http%3A%2F%2Feservices.minnstate.edu%2Fregistration%2Fsecure%2Fsearch%2Fbasic.html%3Fcampusid%3D074\">Housing Portal<\/a> and must be completed by April 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the situation and length of request, students may need to move to a designated residence hall and\/or floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are limited services available for students staying after May 8, including dining services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">Student Groups &amp; International Students<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">Convenience Purposes<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Student Groups &amp; International Students<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p><strong>Spring Sports Athletes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Student athletes actively participating in competition after May 8 may remain in on-campus housing until the end of the Spring season at no additional cost.<\/p>\n<p>Students will be required to move out of the halls one day after the end of the last competition. If more time is needed, a $50 late stay fee will be applied to the student\u2019s account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring Graduates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students who are graduating at the end of Spring semester will be allowed to stay in their room until May 9 at no additional cost. If more time is needed, a $50 late stay fee will be applied to the student\u2019s account.<\/p>\n<p>Students will need to fill out a Late Stay Request form on their Housing Portal. Documentation will be required when filling out your request.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International Students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>International students traveling overseas at the end of Spring semester are given until May 11 to stay in on-campus housing at no additional cost. This allows some flexibility when coordinating travel arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Students will need to fill out a Late Stay Request form on their Housing Portal.
