{"id":786,"date":"2025-05-22T10:08:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T15:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=786"},"modified":"2025-05-22T10:08:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T15:08:57","slug":"keap-center","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/support\/equity\/keap-center\/","title":{"rendered":"KEAP Center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-text-intro\">The KEAP Center works with the Office of Equity &amp; Inclusive Excellence to create an inclusive atmosphere for all people, organizations, and groups on the WSU campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The name KEAP Center stands for:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge \u2013 facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experiences or education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Empowerment \u2013 authority or power given to someone to do something<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocacy \u2013 support for or recommendation of a cause<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pluralism \u2013 a condition or system in which two or more groups or ideas exist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These words put into practice WSU\u2019s mission to create a community of learners improving our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exploration through Engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The KEAP Center provides a variety of programs, activities, and services that help learners develop to their greatest potential and participate in society to their best ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through these programs and activities, students, faulty, and staff within the WSU community are encouraged to explore the ways we construct:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identity (who we are)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge (what we mean)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Power (how we assert influence)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community (how we relate and belong to each other)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Culture (how we make meaning)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wsuequity\">KEAP Center on Facebook<\/a>&nbsp;to hear about the latest events and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating an Inclusive Campus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The KEAP Center is a space for every person\u2014no matter your race, ethnicity, national origin, gender and sexual identity, age, religion, ability, or economic status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can schedule your next club or department meeting in the KEAP Center or hold a social gathering with friends in this space.
