View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/financial-aid\/cost\/international-tuition\/\">estimated cost of attendance for international undergraduate and graduate students<\/a> to learn what your balance should be.<\/p>\n<p>The document must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be in English or translated into English ( a certified translation is required)<\/li>\n<li>Be dated within the last six months<\/li>\n<li>Be printed on official bank letterhead with a bank name and address listed<\/li>\n<li>Include balance and transactions<\/li>\n<li>Display currency<\/li>\n<li>Include the type of account (checking, saving, or time deposit)<\/li>\n<li>Include original official bank stamps and signatures<\/li>\n<li>Be liquid assets immediately accessible<\/li>\n<li>Retirement funds, credit cards, life insurance, etc, are not accepted<\/li>\n<li>Include the name of the account holder. It is also a great way to meet other students! On-campus housing includes all utilities, wi-fi, and necessary furniture.<\/p>\n<p>Also, students who live on-campus can apply for leadership positions that offer free housing, free meal plans and a stipend. Learn more about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/next-steps\/student-jobs-housing\/\">on-campus student leadership positions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To sign up for on-campus housing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/residence-halls\/\">on-campus housing<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z_DkbQmYTUk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">watch a virtual tour<\/a>. \u00a0There are single rooms, double rooms (with a roommate), and apartments.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/apply\/\">Apply for campus housing<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Submit a $250 prepayment to choose your room<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can move into residence halls and East Lake Apartments two days before New International Student Orientation free of charge. There may be a small charge to move in earlier than two days before orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Living on campus also means you will have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/student-life\/housing-dining\/meal-plans\/\"><u>meal plan<\/u><\/a>\u00a0to eat in the dining hall. Wazoo&#8217;s List is a private Facebook group. WSU does not guarantee any listing on this site.<\/p>\n<p>If you need housing for a few days when you arrive, temporary housing may be available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/camps-conferences\/alumni-house\/\">WSU Alumni House<\/a>\u00a0for a small fee or at <a href=\"https:\/\/visitwinona.com\/places-to-stay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local hotels and motels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When signing a lease, off-campus landlords often require a deposit equal to one month of rent, first month rent, and sometimes last month of rent.<\/p>\n<p>Be careful of scams and make sure to read the entire lease to know the rules and fees.<\/p>\n<p>Off campus leasing is a legally binding contract between you and your landlord.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <div class=\"testimonial mb-1 wsu-block\">\n        <div class=\"testimonial__title\">Hear from an International Student<\/div>\n<div class=\"testimonial__quote\">I decided to live on-campus because it was convenient and within walking distance to classes. Uber or Lyft requires internet connection and credit card to reserve a car.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare for Entering the U.S.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before leaving your country, review steps 4-6 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/sevis\/students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Process Steps for Navigating the U.S Immigration System<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The international student adviser\/DSO also recommends that you take the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before you leave your home country, it is a good idea to see a family doctor, dentist, and an eye doctor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make <strong>2 sets of copies of your passport, visa, and form I-20<\/strong>. Leave one set at home with your family or friends and take the other with you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carry your original documents<\/strong> in your carry-on luggage. Do not put them in your checked baggage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you arrive to the first U.S. city airport (port of entry), you will speak to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer.
