Aspiring Teachers of Color

The Aspiring Teachers of Color Pre-college Program is a unique opportunity for rising juniors and seniors to experience college life at Winona State University.

This program is funded by the Minnesota Department of Education, and the WSU Foundation.

It is specifically designed for students of color who are interested in pursuing an education degree at Winona State’s beautiful campus and/or at one of our 2+2 partnerships.

  • Winona State University (Winona, MN)
  • Rochester Community and Technical College (Rochester, MN)
  • Riverland Community College (Austin, MN)
  • Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College (Cloquet, MN)

Aspiring Teachers of Color program is a 3-day program on June 16 - June 19, 2019 held at Winona State University.

Most of the schedule will focus on activities related to our teacher education programs, and preparing you for admission into Winona State University.

This includes instruction-led ACT Plus Writing preparation, information about our 2+2 college transfer programs, materials that demystify the application for financial aid (specifically the FAFSA), knowledge about how Winona State prepares students to become teachers and digital software users taught by college professors at Winona State University!

In order to participate in this program, you must be a rising junior or senior in high school, a resident of the state of Minnesota and an aspiring teacher of color.

Rising describes the grade level you will enter into Fall of 2019. An estimated 15 students will be accepted each summer. Are you interested? Apply now! Or, view application materials.
