Laptop Sale


Due to COVID-19 precautions, the Laptop Sale will be done differently this year.

May 2020 graduates will receive an email with a link to the Aspen Capital secure payment site with their login information. Students who wish to purchase will receive email instructions on next steps once they confirm payment. 

Only students who are graduating Spring 2020 or Summer 2020 are eligible to purchase their laptop.

Not purchasing your laptop? Return your laptop by Friday, May 29 to avoid late fees. To return your laptop, call the Technical Support Center to make an appointment for either the Winona or Rochester campus, or you can mail the laptop to:

Sale Day Details

Please read the following details carefully.

When:

Due to COVID-19 precautions the laptop sale dates / times are yet to be determined. We will provide a hybrid option where students can either come to campus or choose a remote option to re-image their laptops.

Graduates will be emailed updates.

Where:

Winona sales are in Somsen 207. Rochester sales are in GL 118. We will also provide an option to do this remotely.

How:

Aspen Capital accepts Discover, Visa and Mastercard. No cash or checks.

Aspen Capital, Winona State’s leasing company, sets the prices and conducts the sale. The price is based on the number of years you have participated in the eWarrior program.

Please make every effort to complete your purchase as soon as possible to avoid any additional late fees.

If you have extenuating circumstances please contact Tech Support prior to the sale to make special arrangements.

Spring 2020 graduates can buy out the following devices: 

  • HPx360 18
  • MacBook Pro 18

If you currently have a 18-model laptop, you will purchase the one you have. If you have a newer device, you will return it and purchase a stock model of the same platform you returned.

You are not able to switch platforms at the time of purchase.

Yes, you are responsible for backing up any data you would like to keep prior to purchasing your laptop. You will be emailed instructions on how to reset your laptop. It is important that you follow these instructions.

If you need help to back up your data, you can contact the Digital Learning Commons (DLC) located in the Krueger Library or emailing the DLC.

At the time of sale, we will provide you with information on any remaining manufacturer’s warranty left on your laptop.

Winona State assumes no responsibility for the support of devices after the sale.

Yes, your current WSU email will remain active as long as you keep using it.

Your email account will be deactivated if it has not accessed within one year’s time.

If you choose to keep your Winona State email address, you will also have access to an Office 365 subscription.

After the buyout process, log into your WSU email from a web browser and click "Install Office" in the top right corner to download Office 365 Apps.

Summer graduates can come to the spring sale in May, or they can wait until August when another sale will be held. After purchasing, your laptop will be erased and you will no longer be able to download WSU network programs, such as photoshop or JMP. So if you need these programs for your summer classes you should wait for the August sale.

First you can purchase your laptop with the link provided. Then after payment is verified you will receive an email detailing how to reset your laptop remotely or setup an appointment by contacting Tech Support.

 

To exchange or erase in person contact tech support for an appointment. Macs can be reset by following these instructions. This process will remove all files from your laptop. Ensure you have backed up your files prior. HPs can be erased remotely by using a USB drive. Contact tech support to receive one.
