Adjunct Faculty Resource Center

Welcome to the WSU Adjunct Faculty website. The purpose of this website is to provide Adjunct Faculty with answers to their most commonly asked questions, as well as up-to-date information on the happenings within the Department of Nursing.

If you have any questions related to your role or the content provided, please do not hesitate to contact either of our Adjunct Coordinators: Amber Fiedler (Rochester-Based Clinicals) & Cyndy Jones (Winona-Based Clinicals).

Please also feel free to browse the Faculty Resource Center as interested! You are an important part of the WSU Nursing program, and we are here to support you in your faculty role!

As a faculty member of the nursing department, you are expected to read and provide documentation of your understanding of the Adjunct Clinical Instructor Manual (PDF). You may choose to print certain sections or the entire manual to use as a resource while performing in your faculty role. This resource is intended to provide expectations of your role as a faculty member, as well as a foundation for teaching and interacting with nursing students.

Human Resources at WSU also offers access to our university-based Adjunct Faculty Handbook (PDF) and a Tips & Tools (PDF) for quick reference.

The Undergraduate Nursing Student Handbook (PDF) will provide faculty with an understanding of what can be expected from their students. All nursing students have agreed in writing to the terms presented within this handbook. Please hold our students accountable to these professional expectations.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) states that the university and its agents (faculty, staff, administrators) are not allowed to share educational information about any student without the student’s prior consent. Out of respect for our students' privacy and our individual and collective sense of integrity, we will uphold this policy and its standards. For more information and a tutorial for faculty, please see Student Data Privacy.

WSU encourages reporting of all injuries, regardless of magnitude, that occur on campus property or as a result of WSU employment or student responsibilities. The investigation of even minor injuries can assist in identifying areas of potential concern and can lead to improvements in the safety of campus for faculty and students. If an injury occurs to a student in the clinical setting, please seek professional evaluation in the nearest health care facility. To report and injury, complete the WSU Incident Report form (PDF) and return to your Course Coordinator or Adjunct Coordinator. Please also follow up with your Course Coordinator and Adjunct Coordinator for assistance in completing the form and in determining the student’s safe return to the clinical rotation.

If you are an employee of WSU (including student employees) and experience a work-related injury, your injury must be reported to your supervisor and to the Human Resources Department.  Step-by-step instructions for navigating through the injury reporting process are outlined on the Human Resources website.

If you have questions regarding an incident, you may also contact the Legal Affairs office via email at or by phone at 507.457.2766.
