Resources for Student Investigators
WSU encourages student creative projects and presentations of research at various conferences.
To support this, WSU provides financial assistance through student grants.
Students may be eligible to apply for up to three different university-funded research or creative mentoring grants throughout their undergraduate career, including grants for:
- Early-Year Research and Creative Mentoring
- Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects
- Undergraduate Research and Creative Presentations Travel Support

Minnesota State Undergraduate Scholars Conference
The Minnesota State Undergraduate Scholars Conference provides inter-campus engagement and celebrates our students and faculty as leaders in undergraduate research.
With guidance from faculty mentors, students have the opportunity to prepare poster-, oral-, artistic-, or gallery-style presentations to showcase at this annual conference.
This year's 11th annual conference will take place as a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual activities on April 28-29.
All are welcome to attend and check out the undergraduate research presentations by our Minnesota State scholars. Registration is required.
Council on Undergraduate Research
Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) promotes undergraduate research and creative scholarship for a broad range of fields of study.
Winona State University is an institutional member of CUR.
Minnesota Undergraduate Scholars Consortium
The consortium of Minnesota State institutions who support undergraduate research, scholarly works, and creative activity hosts Posters at St. Paul each spring at the Minnesota State Capitol Rotunda.
This multi-disciplinary poster presentation opportunity highlights the work being done at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
Winona State University will select five presentations for this event, so please encourage your students to submit their abstract.

Women in Science & Engineering (WISE)
The purpose of Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) is to serve as a platform for female students enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering and/or the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at WSU.
One avenue to achieve these objectives is by showcasing research done at Winona State University by participating in various research symposiums, providing opportunities to network with career professionals, and collaborate with other WSU student organizations.
