I. Meeting called to order at 3:37 p.m. by chair Kelly Herold
    Next meeting is December 6, 2000.

 

II. Adoption of Agenda
    Addition by D. Kauffman - calendar under VII. Points of Information, item B.
    J. Jackson/B. Boseker, M/S, to adopt agenda as amended. Motion passed.

 

III. Approval of November 1, 2000 minutes
    Addition of Dan Kauffman to members present.
    D. Kauffman/W. Lewis, M/S, to approve as amended. Motion passed.

 

IV. Gen. Ed. Substitution Requests
A. Jennifer Matsche - PER 417 Cultural Comparison from a Tourist Perspective (3 credits) from Winona State University for Different Cultures. D. Bloom/J. Jackson, M/S, to approve substitution. Motion passed.

 

D. Hokanson/S. Eiken, MS, to ask Chair Herold to consult with Kerry Williams to form a formal motion to A2C2 concerning the approval/disapproval inconsistencies of the current course substitution process.

 

B. Brian Bernander - PER 239 Outdoor Pursuits (3 credits) from Winona State University for Physical Education. R. Ambers/W. Lewis, M/S, to disapprove substitution. Motion failed. D. Kauffman/W. Lewis to approve substitution. Motion passed.

 

V. Course/Program Proposal Subcommittee - No report.

 

VI. University Studies Subcommittee (USS) Report

USS recommends approval of the following courses (all votes unanimous):

    Basic Skills - Physical Development and Wellness
        HHP 205 Nutrition for Lifetime (3 SH)

    Arts & Sciences Core - Social Science (all 3 SH)
        SOC 216 Social Problems
        PSYC 210 General Psychology ECON 201 Principles of Microeconomics
        PSYC 250 Development Psychology ECON 202 Principles of Macroeconomics
Courses approved for University Studies Program.

 

VII. Points of Information

    A. R. Miller, HHP 389 Strength and Conditioning Principles and Programming (one-time course offering).

B. D. Kauffman - There is concern over shortening semester to 14 weeks + final exam week. A university task force was also formed to look at the issue and has recommended a schedule. Next meeting of the calendar committee is November 21. The committee would appreciate comments.
