Meeting Minutes  September 25, 2002

  1. Meeting was called to order at 3:36pm by Chair Charla Miertschin
  2. Adoption of agenda.  Schumacher/Lewis, M/S, to approve.  Motion passed.
  3. Approval of minutes of September 11, 2002.  (available at http://www.winona.edu/ifo/a2c2minutes/ ).  Schumacher/Boseker, M/S, to approve.  Motion passed.
  4. Chair's report

A.   Students called to active duty will be handled on an individual basis.

B.   CMST 191 waiver – not in catalog intentionally, students should consult CMST department for credit by exam

C.  Catalog-which is official? The online version is the official copy per Joanne Landers.  Questions were raised regarding changes to catalog and effective dates with respect to students’ programs and changing majors.  It was asserted that there should be a central place for academic information. Chair Miertschin will discuss this with Joanne Landers and Sandy Benning.  The natural science with lab error has been corrected on the web.

    1. Course and Program Proposal Subcommittee (CPPS) - spots remaining to be filled.

First meeting next Wednesday, October 2, 2002.  Departments caucused for 10 minutes.  Thompson/Schumacher, M/S, that colleges with a small number of departments have the option to elect two alternates.  Motion passed.

    1. Jason Fox - PER 410 Coaching Clinic (2 SH) from WSU for Physical Education activities.  Schumacher/Shields, M/S to disapprove.  Motion failed.  Boseker/Lewis, M/S, to approve with “Allied Studies” crossed off in requested are field.  Motion passed. 
  1. University Studies Subcommittee report

Kerry Williams distributed spreadsheet of all flag courses approved to date.  These courses are on the Registrar’s approved list.  Members were asked to review list for potential mistakes.  All proposals are available on the web and can be accessed from the A2C2 or IFO web sites.  Submissions need original and 9 copies.
