Minutes of November 17, 1999

I.    Meeting Called to Order at 3:36 PM by Chairman Kelly Herold

II.    The Chair added Kerry Williams's informational item to: V. Points of information. It referred to course title changes in Psychology. B. Boseker, H. Dachelet to approve the agenda with the addition. Motion passed.

III.    S. Kilkus, R. Newberry to approve minutes. Minutes of November are approved.

IV.    Curriculum & Course Subcommittee Requests:

1. New Course Proposals or Revisions:

A. HHP 425 Organization and Administration of School Health, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve.

B. HHP 328 Behavioral Interventions, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve.

Motion passed by full committee.

2. Program Revision

A. HHP BS School & Community Health Education


1) Non-Teaching Option, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve

2) Public Administration Option, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve.

3) Teaching Option, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve.

The professional education sequence identified in revision "3" above was separated at subcommittee from the original proposal and ONLY the revision of the HHP teaching option was approved.

25 minutes of discussion ensued pertaining to the Professional Education Sequence, Teaching "Specialties" and the Board of Teaching. M. Miller, S. Kilkus, to close debate. Motion passes.

Chair Kelly presents the subcommittee motion to full committee and Motion passes by full committee.

B. BS Biology Major - Ecology, 7-0 subcommittee vote to approve after electives were identified. Motion passes by full committee.

V.    Points of Information

1.Helen Dachelet withdraws the information to committee from the Sociology Department

2. Kelly Herold notifies the Committee about the following course title changes:

a. PSY 301 Introduction to Learning: Operant and Classical becomes PSY 301 Introduction to Learning


b. PSY 360 Psychology of Work Behavior becomes PSY 360 Personnel Psychology

VI. Additional Sub/ Ad Hoc Committee Reports.

Chair Herold informs committee that the funding for Maxwell refurbishment has been withdrawn and is no longer on the MNSCU priority "list". However the Funding for the New Science building now appears imminent.
