I. Meeting called to order at 3:38 p.m. by chair Kelly Herold.

II. Adoption of Agenda

III. Approval of April 18, 2001 minutes
   
R. Shields/W. Lewis, M/S, to approve. Motion passed.

IV. General Education Substitution Requests

  1. Christine Dallmann - Common Market Passport including INTL 199 Introduction to British Cultural Experience (1 SH), INTL 299 Observations on the Host Culture (2 SH) and INTL101 Environment and Society (3 SH) from St. Cloud State University. D. Kauffman/R. Ambers, M/S, to disapprove the substitution. Motion passed.
  2. Travis Grant Elkman - SPED 400 Education of Exceptional Children & Youth (3 SH) from Winona State University for Different Culture. R. Ambers/B. Boseker, M/S, to approve substitution. Motion passed.
  3. Stephanie Long - PER 121 Introduction to Music and Movement (1 SH) from Winona State University for Physical Education. R. Riley/B. Boseker, M/S, to approve substitution. Motion passed.
  4. Troy Ellis - FSEM 101 Health & Fitness Issues of the 90's (1 SH) from Hamline University and SOC 306 Social Aspects of Substance Abuse (3 SH) from University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point for HHP 204 Personal & Community Health. R. Shields moved to approve. Motion withdrawn. E. Thompson/D. Hokanson, M/S, to have Chair Herold to instruct student to attempt approval for credit at his department level. Motion passed.

V. University Studies Subcommittee (USS) Report

    A.    USS recommends approval of the following as new courses:

    Courses were approved by A2C2 as new courses.

    B.    USS Recommends approval of the following courses for University Studies:

    Arts & Sciences Core - Humanities

    Arts & Sciences Core - Social Science

    Unity & Diversity - Critical Analysis

    Unity & Diversity - Science and Social Policy

    Unity & Diversity - Global Perspectives

    Unity & Diversity - Multicultural Perspective

    Unity & Diversity - Contemporary Citizenship

    Courses were approved by A2C2 for University Studies Program.

    Chair Herold thanked Kerry Williams and the USS for their hard work.

    K. Williams reported that Science & Social Policy and Unity & Diversity categories have few classes.

VI. Points of Information

    A.    Education - The Geography Elective (3) requirement in being waived in all K-6 programs except for the K-6 with Middle School Social Studies program.

VII. Old Business [or Future Business]

  1. Regulation 3-4 - There is a need to finalize the forms on the internet for all submissions
  2. Transfer - Policies are in the works.
  3. On-line A2C2 forms - Strive toward a paperless system.

    W. Lewis thanked the Course/Program Proposal Subcommittee members for their hard work.

    A2C2 Committee members also thanked Win Lewis and Kelly Herold.
