Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2001

I. Call to order.  Meeting was called to order at 3:35 by Chair Charla Miertschin

II. Adoption of agenda.  Chair added the following:   Under chair's report, add B. University Studies appeal policy; C. Submission deadlines.  Under VIII. New Business, add A.  University Studies Notification form; B. Gen. ed.  substitution from Nicholas Ozment, Eng 111. Approved as amended by consensus.

III. Approval of minutes of March 27, 2002.  M/S to approve R. Miller/Russ Smith.  Motion carried.

IV. Chair’s report
  
A. MnTC.  Jim Pehler was unaware of the "area-by-area" transfer policy.  State meet and confer does not know about this.  It will be pursued as to the source and the intent. 
    B.  Senate approved the USP appeals process recommended by A2C2.
    C. Submission Deadlines:  Need them by tomorrow or Friday for inclusion for the rest of the year. 

V. Course and Program Proposal Subcommittee (CPPS) report.  The following were recommended for approval:  Motion carried.

A. New Course
    1. SPED 414/514 - Multisensory/Comprehensive Language Arts Instruction I.
    2. SPED 415/515 - Multisensory/Comprehensive Language Arts Instruction II

VI. University Studies Subcommittee (USS) report.  The following were recommended for approval.  Motion carried.  
A. CMST 261
CMST 261 is currently under Arts & Science Core Humanities.  Recommendation is to remove it from this category effective at the end of    fall 2002. Prior to spring 2003, students may count it as Humanities OR as an oral flag. Beginning spring 2003, the course will count as an oral flag only.

    A. University Studies Notification form.  New form was distributed.  M/S Miller/Schumacher to approve.  Motion carried.

    B.  Gen ed. Course substitution.  Nicholas Ozment to substitute credit earned from AP English exam from Great Falls College for Eng 111.      M/S Miller/Lewis to approve.  Motion carried. 

IX. Notifications

A. Nursing - submitted numerous (6 pages) changes in course titles, descriptions, and prerequisites. These will be posted on the A2C2 web site http//www.winona.edu/ifo/a2c2minutes/ for review.

B. Geoscience

1. GEOS 105 Astronomy (3-4 SH) will be listed as GEOS 105 Astronomy with Lab (4 SH) and GEOS 106 Astronomy (3 SH). Both courses will be listed as Arts & Sciences Core: Natural Science courses under University Studies.
2. GEOS 110 Oceanography (3-4 SH) will be listed as GEOS 110
Oceanography with Lab (4 SH) and GEOS 111 Oceanography (3 SH).
Both courses will be listed as Arts & Sciences Core: Natural Science courses under University Studies.
