Student Clubs

Student Council for Exceptional Children:
SCEC is the student professional organization for Special Education. The club meets once a month and sponsors activities which are social, professional development, and service.

Kids First After School Program:
Volunteers work with children at the Maplewood Townhomes Housing Authority. Children are of diverse backgrounds and receive help with homework and participate in recreational activities.

Project COMPASS – Winona Community Education:
Provides classes and activities for community individuals with disabilities. Classes range from movie nights and bowling to exercise classes and crafts. Volunteers are always welcome.

Home and Community Options
A local agency that provides residential and respite care for individuals with disabilities. Employment and volunteer opportunities are available.

Travel Study

The department offers a travel study trip to Jamaica once a year. The trip includes living in a boys’ orphanage, visiting public schools and touring agencies in Kingston.

Student Resource Center

The Student Resource Center is an office where students, staff, faculty, parents or visitors can ask questions and find out a variety of valuable information. The Student Resource Center is entirely staffed by student experts who attend the university. The friendly staff has an excellent understanding of the university and the surrounding community.
