Undergraduate Program Admission

It is best to understand the admission process into the Teacher Education Programs the minute that you set foot on campus.  That way, you can be prepared instead of surprised.  Keep in mind that admission is competitive, so you will want to go above and beyond the minimum expectations.

Here are some resources that will help you remain informed.  Read through them all carefully, then contact your academic advisor with any questions:
Teacher Education Admission Criteria (pdf)
Admission Scoring Grid (pdf)
Expense Table (pdf)

Faculty believe strongly that it is important for teachers to reflect on the individual needs of students, be responsive to the social context of learning within the classroom, and advocate for children and their learning.  To learn more about the beliefs of faculty, you are invited to read the Core Belief Statement (pdf) and Conceptual Framework (pdf).

Criminal convictions and/or certain charges may make it difficult to obtain a teaching license.  If you have questions about this, it is best to contact Monica Rasmussen, the Teacher Ethics Specialist at the Board of Teaching: monica.rasmussen@state.mn.us or 651-634-2736.
