Taking the PPST (Preprofessional Skills Test)
Students applying for admission to the WSU Teacher Education Program
are required to have taken the PPST exam and to have the official
results forwarded to the Education Dept at Gildemeister 152 in time
to meet the cutoff date for completion of their admissions folder.
On-Campus testing. The PPST is offered on the WSU campus in a large
group setting three times per year. Registration booklets for the
on-campus tests are available in the WSU Education Department Office.
Many students prefer to pay slightly higher fees for the convenience
and quick results that are offered by taking a computer version of
the exam at an authorized private vender.
Computerized testing. You will need to register prior to taking the
exam to ensure a computer terminal is available when you get there.
TO REGISTER OVER THE PHONE YOU MUST HAVE A VISA OR MASTERCARD. The
cost for all three sections of the exam was in the vicinity of $110
in the fall of 2000. If you are retaking a specific section of the
exam, you can anticipate around $70 for one section or $90 for two
sections.
- SCORES on MATH AND READING are received immediately.
- SCORES on WRITING SECTION are mailed to within 2-4 WEEKS
- NOTE: You cannot retake any exam within 60 days.

Both Minnesota and Wisconsin require students to meet passing benchmark
scores on the PPPST exam before they will grant initial teaching
