What is the PPST test?
- The Pre-Professional Skills Test is a test that must be taken
by all individuals wanting to become licensed.
- The test consists of 3 parts; Reading, Math, and Writing.
- The tests are offered on the WSU campus (dates and times are
listed in the Education office), or on Computer based at a testing
sites listed in the booklet. The PPST test must be taken before
being admitted to the department, but students do not have to
pass all three parts of the test until they try to be licensed.

Where are the PPST scores located?
- If an individual has not been admitted to the program yet their
PPST scores will be located in the Education Office.
Where do the PPST scores get filed?
- The Dean of Education will bring copies of the test scores
down to our office once they receive them. The original copy of
the test scores are kept in the dean of education office.
- The scores are stamped with the date received and then sorted
by the tests they have taken. If the scores say:
- PPST(C-PPST): reading, PPST(C-PPST): writing, PPST (C-PPST):
Mathematics; these scores are filed in the Education office
- Principles Learning and Teaching, Etc. These scores are
filed in the Student Teaching Office
When is the next admission meeting?
- Stop by or check the advising
website resource page for the timeline information sheet located
on top of the admissions trays in the Education Office.
How do I apply for student teaching?
- Student teaching applications are available in the Student
Teaching Office in GILD 124.
What if an individual does not have an advisor or does
not know who their advisor is?
- Once students complete a yellow declaration of major form they
will be assigned an advisor.
- If the student is an elementary education major, he/she will
be assigned an advisor from the Education Department.
- If the student is a secondary education major the yellow form
will go to the office of the major.
- Once an advisor is assigned they will be listed on the Student’s
Personal Data Form (PDF) which is on the internet.
When do students need to schedule an appointment with their
advisor?
- Advising is done every semester before the students register.
- A Large group advising meeting with all advisors in the status
level will be held before advising each semester. If students
are not able to attend the meeting, it is video taped and they
must watch it in the education office before they meeting with
their advisor.
- Advisors hang pink advising sheets outside their office when
after the large group advising meeting.

What are "Student Advising Sheets" and where are
they located?
- Please stop by the Education office and ask for assistance.
Can students look in their files?
- Students are able to look in their files, they may make a copy
of anything in the file but they are not able to remove the file
folder from the office.
- If a student wants to make a copy of anything in their file
they may take the papers they want and make copies. The papers
must come back to the office within 15 minutes.
What if the individual is not admitted to the program yet,
do they have a file?
- If individuals are not admitted to the Education department
they will not have a permanent file yet.
- Any transcripts or PPST scores that are received for students
not having a file will be placed in the pending files.
