Global Studies Majors

Travis Allen:  Travis graduated in May of 2009 with a degree in GSAS. Travis will enter a management-training program for the largest wholesale distributor of pool and landscaping supplies. This distributor is the largest in America and also does business in 8 countries abroad and expanding rapidly in Hong Kong, China and the Caribbean. After 8 months of training in Miami, Florida Travis my find himself a position in China. He feels the opportunities provided through the Global Studies department landed him this job. That includes first his Chinese language ability, his study abroad experience and also his Spanish language ability.

Peter Singer-Towns: Peter graduated in May of 2009 with a BA in GSAS and POLB. He will be heading to Neihu, Taipei County in Taiwan to teach English to 7-12 year old children through HESS Educational Organization. He also plans to do volunteer work at a Chinese orphanage during Chinese New Year vacation. Through complete cultural immersion Peter is looking forward to advancing his Chinese ability he developed while at Winona State University and from previous studies in Taiwan as an undergraduate.

Jaclynn Reynolds: Jaclynn graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSAS and ARTS.  She is currently in South Korea teaching English at the Korean Air-Force Aviation Science High School.  After her yearlong contract is up there she plans to move to Seoul to teach English at a university.

Mitchell Hayden: Mitchell graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSAS and POLB. He left the United States in July 2008 to join the Peace Corps and teach English at a high school in the rural province of Cambodia, Svay Rieng. He will be there until 2010.

Amber Helbling: Amber graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSNA (Global Studies North America).  After graduation she took an internship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation out of Minneapolis in their volunteer services department.  In June of 2008 she began work at the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office primarily in the voter outreach and elections department.

Casey Cloeter: Casey graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSAS. He is planning to teach English in South Korea near Soonchunhyang University starting in February 2009.

Carl Soderberg: Carl graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSAS and POLB. He will be teaching English in Seoul, South Korea starting in February 2009.

Gwendolyn Rouse: Gwen graduated in 2008 with a BA in GSAS and POLB.  She is currently living and working in a Buddhist community along the Northern coast of California. There she works on producing Tibetan Buddhist texts to give away at the World Peace Ceremony in India. She spends work hours in the volunteer office as well as working in recruitment.

Kevin Kasal: Kevin graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in GSAS (Global Studies Asian Studies) and POLB (Political Science International Option).  After graduation he traveled to South Korea for the summer. Upon his return, he reinstated his employment with the Fastenal Company.  He currently resides in Eau Claire, WI and works for both the Fastenal Co. and Rexair Industries in sales.

Erik Sundberg: Erik graduated in 2007 with a BA in GSAS. He is currently living in the Chicago area working on several websites and writing on his personal blogs.

David Possing: David graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in GSAS.  After graduation David moved to South Dakota to work.  He has since moved to La Crosse, WI where he plans to further his education while he works for Associated Bank.

Kanako Mizushima: Kanako graduated in 2006 with a BA in GSAS and POLB.  She is currently in her home country of Japan living in Hakodate and teaching English at a school there.

Sarah Michaelson: Sarah graduated in 2006 with a GS and POLB BA. Currently she works selling life and health insurance as a regional insurance agent for Aflac Insurance.

Krista Tauscher Kretman: Krista graduated in 2006 with a BA in GSNA. She now travels around the United States working for a catering company. Tour locations include PGA Golf Course locations.
