University Apartments at East Lake

Winona State University is pleased to have added the University Apartments at East Lake as a housing option for all upper class WSU students. Built in 2003, this unique living environment is conveniently located across from Lake Winona and overlooks the majestic Sugar Loaf bluff.

Although the East Lake Apartments (as they are more commonly known) are six blocks from the main campus, transportation is provided to campus via a shuttle running approximately every 15 minutes. But being located across from Lake Winona provides easy access for outdoor activities such as running, biking, softball, and Frisbee golf!

The East Lake Apartments consist of four apartment buildings comprised of 100 units for more than 370 students. They offer the conveniences of an off-campus apartment with the security and relaxed environment of an on-campus residence hall.  The East Lake Apartments are co-ed however, males and females are not allowed to reside in the same apartment.

Residents living at the East Lake Apartments can choose among three types of apartments:

  • 4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms (4 people)
  • 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms (4 people)
  • 1 bedroom & 1 bathroom (2 people)
  • 1 bedroom, efficiency & 1 bathroom (2 people)
  • Single apartmnts for just one person are NOT available
  • There are two handicap accessible apartments available.  Please contact the Housing & Residence Life Office for more information.
Apartment Sign-Up Information

The main sign-up process for the East Lake Apartments happens in the fall. All students wishing to reside in the apartments have the ability to choose their own roommates. If there are any vacancies, Winona State University retains the right to fill them. Students can also choose between an 11 ½ month contract which includes the summer (June 1-May 15) or an academic year contract (August 15-May 15).

Students are not required to purchase a meal plan. However, they may elect to purchase a traditional meal plan (14, 10, or 7 meals/week) or a special plan which includes a 75-meal block. Please note that Kryzsko Kash is not included with this 75-meal block plan. Information on meal plans is available at the WSU Housing & Residence Life Office.

All policies that are in effect in the residence halls also apply to the East Lake Apartments. This includes no smoking, no alcohol or drugs, and no pets (except fish).  Click here for a complete list of residence hall policies & procedures.
