2013 Transfer Student WorkshopAugust 21-23, 2013Congratulations on your acceptance to Winona State University! The transition to a new university can be both an exciting and challenging time. By attending the Transfer Student Workshop, we can help you prepare for your new life at WSU and in the City of Winona. Attendance at the Transfer Student Workshop is HIGHLY recommended. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me! What Will I Do During the Transfer Student Workshop? The Transfer Student Workshop is designed to assist transfer students with their transition to WSU. We realize that, while you are not new to the college/university environment, you are new to the WSU community and we want to ensure that your transition will be successful. There will be sessions regarding finding a job on campus, being a good neighbor in the Winona community, an introduction to the academic services found on campus, a Q&A panel with current transfer students, as well as meetings with faculty members in your intended major so you can learn more about the program you are entering. And since the Transfer Student Workshop runs concurrently with New Student Orientation, there will be many educational sessions and social activities in which the entire campus will participate together. Why Is the Transfer Student Workshop Important?Attending the Transfer Student Workshop is a great opportunity for you to meet fellow transfer students and make valuable connections with current WSU students, faculty and staff. New students who make these connections and create friendships tend to be more successful in their transition to college. They are also more likely to stay in college, be satisfied with their collegiate experience, get better grades, and graduate! How Much Will It Cost Me to Attend? There is no fee to attend the Transfer Student Workshop! You will be provided with one continental breakfast and three lunches throughout the time. In addition, admission to all evening and weekend entertainment is free to students so you can begin making connections with other WSU students and start building your social circle in Winona.
