Winona Campus Tuition and Fees

All tuition is subject to change by the Minnesota State College and University Board. The following tuition rates are approved for Winona State University for Fall 2015, Spring 2016 and Summer 2016.

Undergraduate tuition for Fall and Spring full time students (12- 18 credits) for the Winona campus and the ACE campus will be billed at a flat rate shown below. Rochester campus classes will be charged on a per credit basis (except for Wisconsin residents). All Graduate courses and Undergraduate and Graduate Summer Session courses will be charged on a per credit basis.

Reduced fees are available for some student teachers and internships.


Athletics Fee 

The Athletics Fee is a mandatory fee assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona campus. This fee is used to support the university's Division II athletic programs, which includes student admission to regular Division II athletic contests. A committee consisting of members of the Student Senate and University Administration determines the rates and distribution of funds. The Athletics Fee is $4.16 per credit hour, with a $49.92 maximum per term. This fee is not included on 1098-T.


Course Fees 

Course Fees are assessed to all students attending courses that have additional course fees indicated in the schedule. Rates are determined by the Department Chairperson and approved by the Deans and Academic Vice President. Course fees are used by the departments to pay for costs not normally incurred in every day instruction, i.e. the cost of using the bowling alley for a bowling class. This fee is included on 1098-T.


E-warrior: Digital Life & Learning Fee 

All full time undergraduate students (defined as taking 12 semester credits or more) are automatically enrolled in the Digital Life and Learning Program. Students will be required to continue in the program until they graduate or leave WSU. All other students may choose to participate in the program if they wish. Complete information is available on the e-Warrior program website

 This fee is $485 per term; contract is signed for the school year so if you receive your laptop at pre-registration and do not attend school in the fall you will be charged for the use of the computer during the summer. If the laptop is not returned prior to the start of the next term you may be charged the full replacement cost. You may also incur additional charges for laptops not returned at the time you withdraw up to and including replacement/collection costs. This fee is included on 1098-T.


Health Service Fee 

The Health Service Fee is assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona campus. This fee is used to support the Health Services program within the Student Center for Health and Counseling. The Center provides a wide range of heath services for students, to include office visits, procedures, supplies, immunization clearances and vaccinations. A committee consisting of members of the Student Senate and University Administration determines the rates and distribution of funds. Students will receive care at the Health Service with the Warrior ID card. Additional fees are charged for lab, medication, and/or supplies. The Health Service Fee is $5.05 per credit hour, with a $60.60 maximum per term. This fee is not included on 1098-T. 


Incidental Fees 

Several smaller fees arise from other non-course related matters including Health Service, Credit by Exam Fees, ID card replacement fees and Library Fines.


MSUSA Fee

The Student Life Fee is a mandatory fee assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona and Rochester campuses. This fee is for membership in the Minnesota State University Student Association. Each campus student association shall be affiliated with its statewide student association and all students enrolled on those campuses shall be members in their respective statewide association. The MSUSA and the State Board Office determine the rate. The MSUSA Fee is $0.43 per credit hour. This fee is included on 1098-T. 


NSF Fee (Returned Check)

A fee of $20 will be assessed for each check returned NSF.


Payment Plan 

Payment in full for all tuition, fees and residence hall charges must be paid by the payment due date indicated in the current class schedule.  All students who have not paid their accounts in full by the due date and are not dropped will be placed on the extended payment plan.  The extended payment fee is $30 per term  An additional late fee of $10 will be assessed late payments on the extended payment plan.

Students are expected to pay all accounts to the University when they are due. Due dates are published on the WSU website. Failure to receive a notice does not release the student from payment obligations. The University is authorized to withhold the issuance of diplomas and official transcripts of credits and to deny students further registration until all moneys due the University have been paid.


West Campus Program Fee 

The West Campus Program Fee is assessed to all students within the Residential College. The rates are determined by the University Administration and funds are used to provide additional programs for those in residence at the west campus. The West Campus Program Fee is $200 per year and paid in the fall term. This fee is not included on 1098-T.


Student Life Fee 

The Student Life Fee is a mandatory fee assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona and Rochester campuses. This fee provides a wide and balanced range of activities that complement the curriculum, including lectures, concerts, dramatic and activities contributing to the mental, moral and cultural development of the student body. A committee of Student Senate members and University Administration determines the rates. Areas receiving funds include the student senate, university clubs and the Winonan. The Student Life Fee is $5.75 per credit hour, with a $69.00 maximum per term. This fee is not included on 1098-T.


Technology Fee 

The Student Life Fee is a mandatory fee assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona and Rochester campuses. This fee is used for the acquisition, upgrading and maintenance of technology that supports academic and student activities, to include lab computers, software licensing, printers, network infrastructure, and technology support. The fee is also used to provide or enhance student access to technology. The rate is determined by University Administration. 

The fee is $7.40 per credit hour, with a $103.60 maximum per term for those attending the Winona Campus and $8.00 per credit hour, with a $96 maximum per term for those attending the Rochester Campus. This fee is included on 1098-T.


Textbooks

Textbooks will average about $500 – $600 per term. Books can be purchased at the WSU Bookstore.


Union Facility Fee 

The Union Facility Fee is assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona campus. This fee supports the overall operation of the student union facilities, to include staffing, building maintenance, repair and renovation; utilities; and supplies and other expenses. The University Administration and the State Board Office determine the rate. The Union Facility Fee is $7.85 per credit hour, with a $125.60 maximum per term. This fee is not included on 1098-T.


Wellness Center Fee 

The Wellness Center Fee is assessed to all students enrolled in classes for college credit for the Winona campus. This fee supports the operation of the Wellness Center for staffing building maintenance, repair and renovation; utilities; and supplies and other expenses. The University Administration and the State Board Office determine the rate. The Wellness Center Fee is $6.00 per credit hour, with a $72.00 maximum per term. This fee is not included on 1098-T.
