I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, and am currently pursing my Masters Degree in Outdoor Recreation, Adventure Based Leadership and anticipate graduating in Fall of 2011.

My family includes Tom, my husband who is an outdoor enthusiast and runs our family business Red Tail Productions, which is a festival production company with our main event being the Boats & Bluegrass Festival.  We have two children, Sequoia who is 9 and attends Bluffview Montessori School, and prefers winter to summer because “there is so much more to do in the winter”, she is a proficient skier and snowboarder and for career day at school went as a gold medalist.  Parker is two and loves being outside he took to sledding as a serious sport this winter and we expect him to find something he is passionate about during the warmer months.

I graduated from WSU with a BS in Therapeutic Recreation in 1994.  While at WSU I had the opportunity to begin the Therapeutic Recreation/ Recreation Club and also travelled on the inaugural Pacific Challenge Trip to Australia and New Zealand.  My experience at WSU was very  positive; my Professors were open minded, offered much expertise, and were very helpful in guiding me to a successful career in Therapeutic Recreation.  I interned at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, MN and then worked as a Recreation Director for Rochester Healthcare Center.  I have also worked at PossAbilities of Southern Minnesota  as a Program Coordinator, and currently work at the Federal Medical Center as a Recreation Therapist on the Long Term Care Unit.  Throughout my career, I have experienced many different facets of Therapeutic Recreation in the populations I have worked with, the settings I have worked in, and the positions I have assumed.  My education from WSU has allowed me to obtain the knowledge and experiences to be a successful therapist.
