We have two children, Sequoia who is 9 and attends Bluffview Montessori School, and prefers winter to summer because “there is so much more to do in the winter”, she is a proficient skier and snowboarder and for career day at school went as a gold medalist. I graduated from WSU with a BS in Therapeutic Recreation in 1994. While at WSU I had the opportunity to begin the Therapeutic Recreation/ Recreation Club and also travelled on the inaugural Pacific Challenge Trip to Australia and New Zealand. My experience at WSU was very positive; my Professors were open minded, offered much expertise, and were very helpful in guiding me to a successful career in Therapeutic Recreation. I interned at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, MN and then worked as a Recreation Director for Rochester Healthcare Center. I have also worked at PossAbilities of Southern Minnesota as a Program Coordinator, and currently work at the Federal Medical Center as a Recreation Therapist on the Long Term Care Unit. Throughout my career, I have experienced many different facets of Therapeutic Recreation in the populations I have worked with, the settings I have worked in, and the positions I have assumed. My education from WSU has allowed me to obtain the knowledge and experiences to be a successful therapist.
