Warrior Community Impact Program

The Warrior-Employer Community Impact Program is a civic-minded mentorship program in which Winona State students and socially responsible employers engage in community service projects together to have a positive impact on the City of Winona, City of Rochester and surrounding communities. Students network with employers from an array of industries while gaining experience in working with greater social issues in community development, public service, and social responsibility. The program is open to all Winona State University students.

Why should a student participate?

As a participant you will . . .

  • Gain a better understanding of your own power to impact the greater community.
  • Network and build relations with civic-minded employers in a relaxed and unique setting.
  • Discover opportunities in employment (full-time, part-time, internships) either through participating companies or community partners.
  • Acquire an awareness of social issues and needs within a community and learn best practices on how to generate change.

What are my responsibilities as a student participant?

Students (who may choose to participate as part of a club or class) are expected to . . .

  • Attend a Community Impact Orientation session (this could be scheduled as part of a student club meeting or class).
  • Actively engage in a one-day/half-day community service project, while networking with employers.
  • Attend follow-up Reflection Session to discuss the impact you had on the community.

Career Services will provide food and transportation to and from the host sites.

Why should an employer participate?

 As a participant you will . . .

  • Be able to discuss your company, explain your role within the company, and share opportunities in employment (full-time, part-time, internships).
  • Mentor students about the value of community service, help them become better connected to their communities, and share your story and passion for service.
  • Gain a better understanding of your own power to impact the greater community.
  • Network and build relations with civic-minded students in a relaxed and unique setting.

What are my responsibilities as an employer participant?
