4-Step Plan

Freshman Year 

  • Take part in an Introduction to Higher Education course
  • Get to know your academic advisor
  • Develop an academic and career plan
  • Enroll in English Composition, Speech, and Math (review our General Education classes to try out a major)
  • Explore careers and majors through websites, the career resource library, and professors
  • Get involved in clubs and organizations
  • Find a part-time and summer job related to your career interests by accessing EZlink

    Sophomore Year
  • Continue self assessment, interests, values, world of work, and majors
  • Declare a major/minor
  • Use EZlink to locate and apply to related experiences through volunteer, internship or work experience
  • Conduct mock/practice interviews using InterviewStream

    Junior Year
  • Revise major/minor decision through continued self assessment
  • Locate, apply for and complete an internship
  • Have your resume critiqued by a Career Services Advisor
  • Continue career research with Career Services (salary surveys, employment outlook, geographic considerations...etc.)
  • Conduct informational interviews
  • Attend Career and Job Fairs

    Senior Year
  • Begin job search 6 to 9 months prior to graduation
  • Learn more by viewing podcast presentations
  • Prepare to interview for jobs
  • Attend Career and Job Fairs
  • Send out Graduate School Applications (if applicable)
