Explore the many ways you can get involved in the WSU community, connect with others, and enjoy your retirement.
Senior University (SU) is open to everyone of retirement age.
You do not have to be a WSU retiree to enjoy these peer-led, short courses taught by WSU retirees and topic experts.
SU classes provide intellectual and cultural learning opportunities. Not only does SU offer opportunities for lifelong learning, but also the fellowship of peers sharing a common quest for continued growth.
The Retiree Center Travel and Day-Trip Program is a popular opportunity to see new places, meet new people and have new experiences.
Whether it’s a trip to Cape Cod or abroad, or a daytrip to museums, symphonies or professional theatre productions, there is likely something for everyone to enjoy.
Come and join us on our next trip!
Thinking about retirement from WSU?
The Pathways to Retirement Planning guide has resources and workshops about planning for retirement to help you consider:
• Financial readiness
• Healthcare insurance
• The transition from a work lifestyle to retirement lifestyle
• How to find purpose and satisfaction in retirement
The Socrates Cafe discussion group meets on the fourth Thursday of each month from 2-4pm at the WSU Retiree Center.
Big questions and small questions, no matter how provocative can be considered as part of the Socrates Cafe discussion group.
• What is truth?
• What is justice?
• What is identity?
• Where did we come from and where are we going?
• What is patriotism?
• Why is there a rise in religious fundamentalism and atheism?
The Learning Club is open to retired people who want to continue learning in a fun yet challenging way.
A variety of classes are taught by people who love their subject. Participants motivation is simply a love of learning and a desire to stay fresh and vibrant during retirement.
The Living History Project provides a documented legacy of WSU Retirees’ lives, accomplishments and contributions to our University.
Students in the Mass Communications program research, interview, write scripts, film, and edit the documentary which is then premiered on campus.
This inter-generational experiential learning venture is a project of pride for the entire WSU community.
