Technology Resources for Employees

WSU employees are provided the desktops, laptops, and other devices they need to perform the jobs as well on-campus tech support if any issues arise.

The Teaching, Learning & Technology Services team also provides support and resources for faculty and maintains classroom technology.

The Project Management Office coordinates projects and initiatives that require IT resources.

Tech Support

WSU faculty and staff can go to Tech Support to report an issue or get help with their devices.

The Technology Knowledge Base is a great resource with information, instructions, and forms specific to WSU.

You can also explore self-paced online courses about general technology, software applications and so much more with LinkedIn Learning.

Teaching, Learning & Technology Services

Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) Services offers a wide range of services to empower faculty and staff to use technology effectively and explore new technologies that enrich digital life and learning.

TLT helps design, install, and maintain instructional technology in classrooms and other learning spaces.

WSU’s classrooms support modern teaching methods and enhance communication and collaboration in all academic disciplines.

Consultation & Support

TLT provides individual and departmental assistance just-in-time and by appointment.

Call 507.457.5240 (Option 3), email tlt@winona.edu, or visit during normal business hours.

Digital signage monitors are located across campus in each campus building.

These monitors promote events, opportunities, meetings, and other announcements.

WeTeach is a program for instructors who want to teach high-quality online classes.

This program features foundational and advanced tracks, and it supports instructors at all levels of experience.

New2WSU is a program for new instructors who want an introduction to campus technology.

This program also explores how instructors can integrate campus technology into their courses to best support their goals.

This program for office administrative assistants focuses on the effective use of collaboration, productivity, and assessment technology in an office environment.

TLT manages several online classes for employees about data security, including Public Jobs Private Data and PCI Compliance.

Employees are notified if they need to take these courses.

TLT hosts weekly, brief online sessions focused on time-sensitive topics and topics relevant to WSU.

Watch for announcements via email and attend when you can—there’s no registration to attend.

Instructors can develop and deliver student training that’s customized to meet their specific course needs.

TLT provides support for projects involving technology in instruction, such as:

Project Management Office

The Project Management Office (PMO) supports WSU faculty, and staff who have projects that include a technology element or depend on software. Submit an IT Project Request to connect with a project manager.

The PMO centralizes, coordinates, and oversees the management of projects, programs, and portfolios. The PMO has 3 roles with the following objectives.

Faculty & Staff Devices

Winona State faculty and staff receive computers and related equipment needed for their jobs. Employees must agree to the Employee Tech Agreement.

Minnesota State Board policy 5.23.1.3 requires that all university-owned or -leased devices must have data erased before disposing or reusing the device.

This policy applies to devices transferred from one individual to another within the same department. WSU Information Technology cannot reassign any device until private data has been erased.

A group of faculty and staff have a meeting in a conference room at WSU.
Public Jobs, Private Data
All computers, tablets, and devices that can store electronic files must be encrypted if they contain private information or have access to private information like emails, student grades, financial details, and any other personal data about WSU students or employees.

Equipment & Prices

Employees can choose from equipment that has been approved for use on the WSU network. Prices may vary.

Order WSU Tech Equipment

Contact IT at ordertech@winona.edu to order equipment not listed or to purchase any computer hardware.

WSU may provide a cell phone or other mobile computing device with a data plan to employees if they need it for work use.

Before anything is purchased, the employee must complete the Initial and Annual Cell Authorization form and their supervisor must approve it.

Each mobile user must complete the same form annually to review the need for their plan, per MinnState Procedure 5.22.2.

The actual price will be determined when an order is placed.

Each WSU department determines which employees should have a laptop.

Employees with WSU laptops have the same tools and support as students enrolled in the eWarrior program with a few differences:

  • Employee laptops must be exchanged for a new model every 3 years. Employees will be notified when their devices are due for exchange.
  • Fees for lost, stolen, or damaged devices are charged to the department, and the department decides whether to pay the fees or charge them to the employee.
  • Safeware insurance is not available for employee devices.

Review the features of current laptop models.
