Admissions Criteria

It is important to know the requirements before applying to WSU-Rochester to make sure your transition goes smoothly. For all students, the essential requirements are a completed application and official transcripts from previous colleges.

Visit the WSU Admissions website for full details on application requirements for transfer students.

As a transfer student with at least 24 transferable college credits, you can skip the application section about high school courses and ACT/SAT scores.

Generally, you will be admitted if you have a 2.4 GPA or higher from a nationally accredited college or university.

If your cumulative college GPA is between 2.2-2.39, a transfer specialist will conduct a personal interview and review your application.

Note that simply bringing in the recommended 24 credit hours does not mean that you will start courses in your major immediately. Depending on how your credits transfer, they may or may not meet pre-requisites for WSU-Rochester programs.

Learn more about how credits transfer in the FAQs or connect with an admissions advisor.

Students who have or are currently serving in the military must meet the same admission requirements for civilian students.

However, if your current GPA is below 2.40, you will be asked to come in for an interview with an admissions transfer specialist who will review your application on an individual basis.

Military service school and correspondence courses are able to be transferred to WSU-Rochester. An official DD214 form and/or military educational records must be presented to the Admissions Office for the credit evaluation.

If you have completed fewer than 24 college-level credits, you will also need to submit your final high school transcript and ACT score. WSU’s school code is 2162.

Generally, you will be admitted if you have:
  • a transfer GPA of 2.4 or higher
  • an ACT score between 18-20
  • a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
You will also generally qualify for admission if you have:
  • a high school GPA of 2.75
  • an ACT score of 21 or higher
  • a transfer GPA of 2.4 or higher

Admission Requirements for Degree Programs

Admission to the university does not guarantee admission into a specific academic program. Some programs have an additional admission process that you must complete before you are able to take courses within those majors.

Check the appropriate WSU academic department website for specific deadlines and policy for admission into your program of interest.
