Art & Design Programs

The Art and Design department offers 4 majors and 2 minors, focusing on a variety of topics from history, teaching, to digital design.

Majors

Art Teaching

The Art Teaching major prepares graduates for Minnesota certification in art (K-12). This program will help you develop your own artistic voice, while teaching you how to educate others the fundamentals of art.

The Art and Design department partners with the College of Education for this major.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design is a traditional design major relying on strong foundations in design theory, studio arts and history, combined with contemporary multi-disciplinary practices like computer science, communication, and marketing.

I-Design

The I-Design major provides students with a modern, adaptive design education.

Using the Design Thinking approach, the I–Design major is developed as a blended design program that is customized for the WSU environment. This program will give you the flexibility to become a leader in several design-related industries.

Studio Art

The Studio Art major offers both analysis and training in the fine arts.

This training is done in the context of a broadly based Liberal Arts education, making sure you are a well-rounded student ready to become a visual artist or creative industry professional in today’s world of arts.
