On Oct. 23, spend the evening with Darius Atefat-Peckham, author of “The Book of Kin” and “How Many Love Poems.” Darius will read from his award-winning work as part of the John S. Lucas Great River Reading Series.

About the Author
Darius Atefat-Peckham is an Iranian-American poet and essayist.
Darius is the author of “The Book of Kin,” which won the 2023 Autumn House Poetry Prize, and a chapbook titled “How Many Love Poems” (Seven Kitchens Press, 2021). He is also the editor of his mother, Susan Atefat-Peckham’s, posthumous poetry collection, “Deep Are These Distances Between Us.”
In 2018, he was selected by the Library of Congress as a National Student Poet. In this role, he traveled across the Midwest to teach middle and high school students about the concurrence of grief and joy in literature.
Darius grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, attended Interlochen Arts Academy, and received his BA in English and Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations at Harvard. He is currently a Poetry Fellow at the Michener Center for Writers in Austin, Texas.
